Tonight, Columbia College assistant professor Samuel Park reads from his novel This Burns My Heart at Women and Children First. The story of a woman struggling for identity in post-war South Korea, This Burns was named one of amazon.com's Best Books of the Month for July, 2011. Comedian and actor Jeff Garlin, who plays Larry David's loveable sidekick on the show "Curb Your Enthusiasm," starts a short run of his one-man show "No Sugar Tonight" at the Steppenwolf Theater tonight at 7:30pm. Performances run through July 24; admission $15 students, $25 everyone else.

Tonight the Chicago History Museum (Clark Street & North Avenue) hosts a free viewing the John Hughes' classic Ferris Bueller's Day Off in Uihlein Plaza. This special screening is in collaboration with the Chicago Park District's "Movies in the Parks" series taking place all summer long. Guests are invited to bring their own chairs, blankets, food and beverages (in non-glass containers). The outdoor showing starts at dusk and in the event that inclement weather is predicted, a decision regarding the showing of the film will be made by 5p.
