Facets Night School: Educational Shorts

Facets Cinematheque presents Facets Night School, its occasional series of midnight cult film screenings paired with guest lecture/discussion sessions. Tonight's program is a series of educational short films presented by Facets personal video consultant Lew Ojeda. The screening starts at midnight; see the Facets Night School page for full details. Vitaminwater Uncapped @ MCA Warehouse

Vitaminwater Uncapped offers some alternative programming down the street from Pitchfork Music Festival July 15-17 at the MCA's warehouse, 1747 W. Hubbard St., from noon to midnight today. Tonight's lineup includes Treasure Fingers, Willy Joy, Hussle Club (DJ set), Team Bayside High and makeshiftprodigy, plus yoga, live graffiti art and a pop-up Allsaints shop. Complimentary vitaminwater drinks and snacks provided. It's free with RSVP

The Paper Machete

The Paper Machete, the weekly "salon in a saloon," this week features Katie Rich, The History Girls Katie Watson and Lindsay Harrington, Aemilia Scott, Mark Bazer, Ken Barnard, Coya Paz and Ricky Gamboa of Barrel of Monkeys, Tim Sniffen and Brendan Dowling, and musical guest Will Phalen. The show starts at 3pm at the Horseshoe, 4115 N Lincoln Ave. Free, 21+.

Windy City Ribfest

Uptown's third annual Windy City Ribfest brings local and national barbecue teams to Lawrence and Broadway July 15-17 to cook up ribs for the masses, while music fills the air. A suggested $5 donation gets you in the door. The fest runs from 5pm to 10pm tonight; here's today's musical lineup:

Dickfork @ Darkroom

The third annual Dickfork "anti-festival" is tonight at 9pm at Darkroom Bar, 2210 W. Chicago Ave., featuring The Hood Internet, Bald E, Skinny Friedman of Philadelphyinz and exbestfriends, with visuals by Yukon Cornelius. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 door. $12 door with a Pitchfork ticket stub or wristband. 21+

Tour de Fat

New Belgium Brewery's Tour de Fat returns to Chicago for its fourth year today. Head to Palmer Square no later than 10am to join the bike tour, or just stick around the square for theatrical spectacle from Squirm Burpee Circus and Daredevil Chicken Club and music by Dovekins, Mucca Pazza and Free Energy. And, of course, enjoy some Fat Tire beer. The event benefits West Town Bikes. Free.

Bitchpork

Much like its similarly named nemesis, Bitchpork Music Festival features loads of bands on three stages, over three days. It's being held at a secret South Side location; ask for the address when you buy tickets at Permanent Records.

Pitchfork Music Festival @ Union Park

If you have the sunblock, water, money and time, this is the summer's hottest music event. Event is at Union Park (corner of Ashland and Lake), starts 1pm, and runs through Sunday. Features acts like Guided by Voices, Animal Collective, DJ Shadow, Odd Future, Ariel Pink, and TV on the Radio.
