Shock Theater Horror Double Feature

Shock Theater from the Cinema Dementia Collection screens at the Wicker Park Arts Center, 2215 W. North Ave., tonight at 9pm with Francis Ford Coppola's Dementia 13 and Roger Corman's The Terror. $5 admission, with "cheap concessions and free burial if you die of fright." Lollapalooza @ Grant Park

The twentieth year of this weekend-long festival of mammoth music acts kicks off in Grant Park today, starting at noon. Tickets sold out.

Marc Maron @ Mayne Stage

For more than 15 years, Marc Maron has been writing and performing raw, honest and thought-provoking comedy for print, stage, radio and television. A legend in the stand-up community, he has appeared on HBO, Conan, Letterman, his two Comedy Central Presents specials and almost every show that allows comics to perform. He will be performing at Mayne Stage (1328 W. Morse Ave.) Aug. 4 at 8pm, and two shows tonight and Saturday Aug. 6 at 8pm and 10:30pm. Tickets can be purchased online or at the box office.

Garment Work

Anne Elizabeth Moore, activist, artist, instructor, author, editor, and kick-ass babe, will have her first performance of Garment Work tonight at the Museum of Contemporary Art. Come watch Moore and others take apart a pair of denim jeans during the First Friday performance and discuss the correlation between production, consumption, and women's issues.

LTAB: English Class Heretics @ Victory Gardens Theater

Chicago teen poetry group Louder Than A Bomb (which you may remember from such films as Louder Than A Bomb) announce a collaboration with Victory Gardens Theater. The partnership will launch new playwriting curriculum for LTAB, with courses designed to explore the intersections of poetry, hip-hop and theater. Their first show, English Class Heretics, a "best of" LTAB showcase, runs this weekend. Victory Gardens Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln, Tonight at 7:30pm and Saturday, August 6 at 7:30pm. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased here.

The Silent Film Society of Chicago presents Heart O' The Hills @ Portage Theater

The 2011 Silent Summer Film Festival continues tonight with a screening of the 1919 film directed by Joseph DeGrasse and Sidney Franklin Heart O' The Hills starring America's Sweetheart, Mary Pickford, as a jailbird on a mission to avenge her father's death. Film starts at 8pm. Live organ accompaniment by Jay Warren. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. The Portage Theater is located at 4050 N. Milwaukee Avenue. 17th Annual Black Harvest International Festival @ Film Center

The Gene Siskel Film Center presents the 17th annual Black Harvest International Festival of Film and Video. Opening night is tonight, and the festival runs through September 1. For tonight's premiere event, the festival presents a program of short films, and also presents the Deloris Jordan Award for Excellence in Community Leadership to actress and playwright Regina Taylor. The Interview Show @ Hideout
