Brilliant Corners of Popular Amusements @ Eckhart Park

This three-day-long event at Eckhart Park (1330 W. Chicago Ave.) features music from such acts as Shellac, School of Seven Bells and Sidi Toure, circus and acrobatics performers, a farmers market, the Renegade Craft Fair, and a fun walk/run. I wish more outdoor festivals were like this! Admission to some events is free; others run up to $20.

The Vintage Bazaar

The Vintage Bazar calls the Congress Theatre in Logan Square home for a day. TVB is a pop-up roving flea market featuring reasonably priced vintage decor, furniture, clothing, and accessories. The Congress Theatre is located at 2135 N Milwaukee Ave Chicago, IL 60647. 773-276-1235

Cheveu @ Empty Bottle

French psych/garage rockers Cheveu return to Chicago for Permanent Records' anniversary show at the Empty Bottle. The band's latest album 1000 marks the addition of strings and is a wild sonic ride. Chicago locals Running and E+ open. The show's 21+, $8 and starts at 7PM. (Yes, I know how weird it is for there to be a 7pm show at the Empty Bottle.) The Bottle's at 1035 N Western.

LikeBike Ride

It's a quick bike ride for most--Milwaukee Avenue from the Bucktown/Wicker Park Library (1701 N Milwaukee) to Whipple and Sacramento--but it's an opportunity to get out and enjoy the day with a big pack of riders during this morning's LikeBike ride, which starts at 9:30am. Admission $5.

Schoolhouse Rock tribute @ Old Town School of Folk Music

The Old Town School of Folk Music presents a tribute concert to Schoolhouse Rock! Fun for children and adults alike. The concert happens this afternoon at 3pm in the concert hall on Lincoln Avenue (4544 N. Lincoln). Tickets are $12, or $11 for OTS members.
