Today's 8k run/walk event along the lake benefits PAWS Chicago and supporting no kill shelters for homeless animals. Starts at 9am. Refer to their site for more info.

Former Bear Jim McMahon @ Quay Bar

Former Bear Jim McMahon will be hosting a viewing party at 1pm for the highly anticipated Chicago Bears vs. Green Bay Packers game today at Quay Restaurant & Bar in Streeterville, 465 E. Illinois. McMahon will be available for autographs and photos before, during, and after the game. Guests will be able to enter to win a McMahon jersey, which will benefit The Dave Duerson Foundation to help athletes deal with mental illness. No Place Like Home Opening @ HPAC

This afternoon the Hyde Park Arts Center opens No Place Like Home, a photography exhibition curated by Dawoud Bey that features Chicago-based photographers Lisa Lindvay, John Lowenstein, Jason Reblando, Jessica Rodrigue, David Schalliol and Leilani Wertens. The opening reception runs from 3pm-5pm in Gallery 4 at the Hyde Park Art Center, 5020 South Cornell Ave.

Chicago Culinary Throwdown @ Goose Island Brewery

Chicago's WBEZ 91.5FM will kick off their Off-Air Event Series with the budding tradition of a Chicago culinary throwdown. Chefs Jill Barron of MANA Food Bar, Chris Curren of Blue 13 and Elate, Carlos Ysaguirre of Anteprima, Leonard Hollander of Marion Street Cheese Market and Heather Terhune of Sable will each be paired with a different Goose Island beer, that must be included in their finished dish. The Goose Island Brewery, 1800 W. Fulton St., hosts the event with complementary beer and free food. $15/general admission, $12/WBEZ members and $10/students (with ID). Event begins at 4pm.

Maxwell Street Walking Tour

Join the Culinary Historians of Chicago on a walking tour of Chicago's classic urban marketplace. Created by historic ordinance in 1912, Maxwell Street was the birth place of Vienna Beef, Nabisco and that fabulous polish we all know and love. Improv Nerd with Jimmy Carrane @ Stage 773

Jimmy Carrane hosts a weekly show starting this Sunday at Stage 773 (1225 W. Belmont) featuring monologues by the host, interviews of improv actors (this week's show he interviews Susan Messing), and an exploration of improv comedy. Bears vs Packers Game

The Bears play the Green Bay Packers. The game is at Soldier Field, 1410 S. Museum Campus, and begins at 3:15 p.m. Available tickets are priced between $74-$385, per game.
