F*cked Up, WAVVES @ Logan Square Auditorium

The Empty Bottle presents Fucked Up and WAVVES at the Logan Square Auditorium (2539 N. Kedzie) tonight at 7pm. It's an all-ages show, and tickets are $18 at the door ($15 in advance, available through Ticketweb).

Fall Canning Workshop

If the idea of reaching into your pantry in January and pulling out a jar full of summer is appealing to you, check out the Fall Canning Workshop sponsored by Neighborhood Nutrition Centers -- a relatively new nonprofit that's creating local food systems. Suggested donation is $5. The class starts at 6:30 p.m. at Luther Memorial Church, 2500 W. Wilson Avenue. Suggested donation's $5; reservations are recommended, and can be made by calling (773) 339-5915.

Anne Elizabeth Moore Reads From Cambodian Grrrl @ Quimby's

Missed Anne Elizabeth Moore talk about Cambodian Grrl a couple of weeks ago? You're in luck -- tonight, the current columnist for Truthout and former editor of Punk Planet and the Comics Journal talks about her Fulbright-sponsored journey teaching self-publishing to young Cambodian women. Joining Moore will be local cartoonist and writer Sara Drake, who has her own plans involving comics and Cambodia. 7pm, 1854 W. North Avenue.

Eric Greitens @ Pritzker Military Library

Tonight, Eric Greitens, author of Strength and Compassion andThe Heart and the Fist: The Education of a Humanitarian, the Making of a Navy SEAL makes an appearance at the Pritzker Military Library. Tom Brokaw says "if you're in despair about America's future, meet my hero, Eric Greitens. His life and [The Heart and the Fist] remind us that America remains the land of the brave and generous. The heart and fist are just the combination we need." Pritzker Military Library, 104 S. Michigan Ave., 6pm. $10.

The Pink Dress Run

The Chicago Thirstday Hash House Harriers' Pink Dress Run is being held today to help raise funds for the Imerman Angels charity. This year the goal is to raise $10,000 for the charity. Registration is $30 and shirts are available for an extra $15. The Pink Dress Run is a standard hash with all the runners wearing pink dresses to raise awareness of breast cancer. Participants will meet at Rebel, 3462 N. Clark at 7pm and running begins around 7:30pm. Drinks and socializing will follow the run.

Panda Bear @ Vic Theatre

James Blake @ Metro

Classically trained electro-dance-pop musician James Blake's done a lot in his 22 years: the British songwriter, composer, and producer's self-titled album was nominated for a Mercury earlier this year. 9pm, 3730 N Clark St. Tickets are $26.

The Evolution @ Navy Pier

Enjoy a night of fabulous fashion featuring Chicago-based designers at "The Evolution," from 5pm-10pm tonight at Navy Pier, 600 E. Grand. Celebrating "the journey of every woman," the event, held in the Crystal Gardens Ballroom and hosted by WCIU-The U's Art "ChatDaddy" Sims, will showcase designs by The Double Stitch Twins, GOCA Designs Fraley Le and Bouye Designs.
