Conceit: A Sketch Comedy Show @ Greenhouse

A sketch comedy show that asks the question: what would you do if the movie Big happened to you? It may also ask a variety of other questions about life, love, and 46-year-old babies. You'll laugh... and maybe pee a little. Written by Gapers Block's own Ramsin Canon along with Marvin Benjamin, Davis Chin, and Mike Zapata and starring a host of local sketch and improv vets. 11 p.m. at the Greenhouse, 2257 N. Facets Fright School: Donnie Darko

Facets Multimedia presents the return of Facets Night School, their semi-regular series of midnight cult movie screenings paired with lectures on the films' subjects (renamed Facets Fright School for this run, due to this series' focus on horror films). Tonight's screening: the Richard Kelly cult classic Donnie Darko, which introduced the world to Jake Gyllenhaal, time travel, and Sparkle Motion. The accompanying lecture will be presented by Facets Night School regular Lauren Whalen. Facets Fright School runs Friday and Saturday nights at midnight through October 29. Wild Beasts @ Lincoln Hall

Wild Beasts return to Chicago in support of their third album, Smother. The English band have honed their dreamy indie-rock sound that garnered their sophomore release a Mercury nomination. Their unmistakable vocals sound divine and the music is once again ethereal on Smother. Wild Beasts headline Lincoln Hall. Twin Sister opens at 10pm. The show's 18+ and $15. 50/50 Pilsen

50/50 Pilsen calls itself "the blurring of art & craft." The craft portion occurs this weekend at 1915 S. Halsted St., Sept. 30 to Oct. 2; the art exhibition portion opens Oct. 15. This weekend, peruse crafts from 15 to 20 local artisans. Hours are 6-10pm Friday, noon-7pm Saturday and noon-6pm Sunday. Free.

Design Harvest

Design Harvest, a street festival of furniture and design, takes place this weekend on Grand Avenue between Damen and Wood from 11am to 8pm. Peruse the work of local furniture and home accessory makers, browse through antiques and collectibles, and enjoy music programmed by The Hideout. Free.

Rib-A-Que Smoke Out @ Moonshine Brewery Co.

The 4th annual Rib-A-Que Smoke Out will be hosted today by Moonshine Brewing Co., 1824 W. Division St., from noon to 6pm. Chicago's top chefs, BBQ restaurants and even amateurs will compete for the Gilded Grill trophy, $350 and bragging rights as the "Smoke-out Champion." Each competitor will rub, slather, grill or smoke their way to the best version of BBQ baby back ribs they can produce along with a side dish for rib lovers and guest judges to devour. The audience will place their votes along with the celebrity judges, while listening to live music all day. Tickets are $25 in advance or $35 at the door and one ticket samples all. Backyard Film & Music Fest

From 2-6pm today at the Wicker Park Art Center, 2215 W. North Ave., the Backyard Film and Music Fest will hold the film portion of day. The short films will feature local and international artists. The festival will also feature a performance by Judson Claiborne to a silent 1942 documentary. Afterwards the music portion of the evening will be held at the Viaduct Theater, 3111 N. Western Ave., beginning at 9pm. Patrons will also have access to drinks and several food from several of Chicago's best food trucks throughout the day. Full event tickets are $20 per person, film only tickets are $10, and music only tickets are $15.

Open Streets on State Street

Open Streets on State Street will open from 10am-3pm today for pedestrians to enjoy some healthy recreation in the heart of the city. Seven blocks on State Street will be closed off to traffic for people to come and participate in activates such as yoga, dance classes, scavenger hunts and even a mobile skate park.

Chipotle Cultivate Festival @ Lincoln Park

Chipotle is hosting a new festival celebrating, guess what? Local food, beer and chefs in Lincoln Park. They'll have Chipotle favorites like carnitas tostadas, chicken/steak soft tacos, pozole soup for you to munch on while watching demos by the likes of Tony Mantuano and Paul Kahan using local ingredients. Peppered in amongst the demos are mini concerts by Rural Alberta, White Rabbits, Calexico and more. Check out the full schedule of chefs, farms and shows here. Admission is free and the fest runs from 11am to 7pm in the south end of Lincoln Park.

Astronautalis @ Schubas

Check out hip hop/vocalist Astronautalis tonight at Schubas (5139 N. Southport). Locals ant'lrd and, yes, Sharkula will be opening. The show kicks off at 10 p.m. Tickets are $12 - get yours online or at the door.

Ravenswood ArtWalk

The 10th annual Ravenswood ArtWalk Tour of Arts & Industry runs Saturday and Sunday along the Ravenswood Avenue corridor, featuring more than 250 artists in 50 venues; pick up a map at the Central Gallery at 4021 N. Ravenswood. There will also be a street fair on Ravenswood from Montrose to Sunnyside both days, with music, art and food starting at 11am. Additional performances are scheduled for various venues along the walk; see the site for details. Free.
