CWA Silent Auction @ Cliff Dwellers Club

Tonight the Chicago Writers Association hosts a silent auction and cocktail party fundraiser for the Chicago Literary Hall of Fame. Hosted by ABC's Janet Davies, items for auction include vacations, artwork, writing workshops and more. Cliff Dwellers Club, 200 S. Michigan, penthous, 5:30-8pm. $20 admission includes open bar and appetizers 'til 6:30 and a Kovel whiskey tasting from 6:30-8pm.

Zola Jesus @ Lincoln Hall

It's not quite Halloween, but get ready to hear some haunting sounds. Zola Jesus plays Lincoln Hall tonight. 9pm (18+). Xanopticon opens. Tickets are $13 and are still available. Food Deserts: A Call to Action

Community leaders, academic researchers, and activists will be meeting tonight from 5:30pm-7:30pm at K.L.E.O. Community Family Life Center (119 E. Garfield) to talk about the food desert crisis in Chicago and what is being done to combat it. Event is free, but RSVP encouraged. Event coordinated by the Chicago Area Schweitzer Fellows Program.
