Columbia College associate professor Patricia Ann McNair reads from her short story collection The Temple of Air tonight. Author John McNally says "The Temple of Air isn't just a story collection. Tonight the Chicago Writers Association hosts a silent auction and cocktail party fundraiser for the Chicago Literary Hall of Fame. Hosted by ABC's Janet Davies, items for auction include vacations, artwork, writing workshops and more. Cliff Dwellers Club, 200 S. Michigan, penthous, 5:30-8pm. $20 admission includes open bar and appetizers 'til 6:30 and a Kovel whiskey tasting from 6:30-8pm.

Community leaders, academic researchers, and activists will be meeting tonight from 5:30pm-7:30pm at K.L.E.O. Community Family Life Center (119 E.
