The Chicago Food Film Festival is in its second year, with screenings paired with food and drink from local names (among them Hoosier Mama, Pleasant House, Intelligensia, Doughnut Vault). Festival is at Kendall College, 900 North Branch, with the exception of Edible Adventure #4, which is at Intelligensia Roasting Works at 1850 West Fulton) All-Access pass is $135; individual events start at $20. Festival runs through Sunday.

The School of the Art Institute of Chicago's annual Holiday Art Sale is today and tomorrow, Nov. 18 & 19, in the MacLean Center Ballroom, 112 S. Michigan Ave. Shop for student-made original paintings, sculptures, photography, prints, jewelry, fashion and more from 11am to 7pm today.
Head out to Wrigleyville's Nisei Lounge tonight for a special charity hosted bar benefiting Rock for Kids. Volunteer bartenders will be filling glasses with special cocktails, and there will be free food from PopChips, and lots of fun. Tips go right to Rock for Kids! Graphic novelist Craig Thompson reads from Habibi at the Book Cellar tonight. Habibi is a sprawling, 672 page tale of love in the face of adversity set in the Middle East. Zadie Smith calls it "exquisite...a remarkable feat of research, care, and black ink, and a reminder that all 'People of the book,' despite the division of their individual traditions, share a mosaic of stories." Thompson's other books include Blankets and Goodbye, Chunky Rice. Seating will be limited; the Book Cellar advises arriving a good 20 minutes early. Book Cellar, 4736 N. Lincoln, 7pm.
Friday marks return of Chicago Zine Fest Bingo Night! There will be many rounds of bingo, delicious snacks, and awesome prizes.
