Holiday Warehouse Sale @ Facets Cinémathèque

Get your fill of rare and out-of-print films at Facets Cinémathèque's holiday warehouse sale. Both DVDs and VHS tapes will be available at up to 90% off their regular price. Highlights include films by Guy Maddin, Charlie Chaplin's Circus and King of New York, and heavily discounted contemporary films like Sofia Coppola's Lost in Translation.

Winter Local @ CAC

Winter Local, a "pop-up holiday event" at the Chicago Artists Coalition, 217 N. Carpenter St., showcases 15 local artists, jewelers and fashion designers. In addition to there will be complimentary food and drinks, free hair and makeup makeovers, and a swag bag raffle giveaway. CHIRP Radio will DJ. Free, but donations accepted, benefiting the CAC.

Firebelly Holiday Pop-Up Shop

Firebelly Design hosts a holiday pop-up shop at its studio, 2701 W. Thomas, today from 11am to 5pm. Fifty percent of proceeds will go to Reason to Give families. Flier here.

Tease the Season @ Martyrs'

Tonight at Martyrs', 3855 N. Lincoln Ave., Michelle L'amour hosts Tease the Season, an evening of holiday burlesque. At 8pm there's a Studio L'amour student showcase, followed at 9:30pm by the Chicago Starlets. At 11pm the Studio L'amour Holiday Party gets started. Advance tickets to each show are $15, or $20 for the whole night; VIP seating is available for $30. Admission will be higher at the door. 21+

Co-op Image/Glassworks Bazaar

Chicago Hot Glass, 1250 N. Central Park Ave., hosts the Co-Op Image and Glassworks holiday bazaar and benefit today from 1pm to 10pm. Shop for blown glass ornaments, artwork and jewelry, hot sauce and t-shirts. DJ Animal spins, and snacks and beverages made by local chefs will be provided. Free until 5pm, suggested donation of $15 from 5pm to 10pm. Proceeds benefit Co-Op Image's arts education and entrepreneurial programs.

Handmade Market

Handmade Market returns to the Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western Ave., from noon to 4pm today for a special holiday show. Shop more than two dozen artisans with a beer in your hand (if you'd like). Free; kids welcome if accompanied by an adult. Otherwise 21+.

ShopColumbia Holiday Market

ShopColumbia's Holiday Market runs today and tomorrow, Dec. 9-10, at 623 S. Wabash Ave. Browse artwork, crafts and gift items made by Columbia students and alumni. The shop is open from 11am to 5pm today.

Mortified! @ Schubas

Mortified!, the show in which people share their miserable failures and embarrassments, returns to Schubas, 3159 N. Southport Ave., tonight at 7:30pm. This month features readings by Lindsay Adams, Oline Eaton, Michael Van Kerchove, Samantha Vincenty, Mary Zemaitis, Polina Zionts and GB's own Jessica Palmer. Shay DeGrandis hosts, with special guests The Blue Ribbon Glee Club.Tickets are $12 in advance or at the door. 21+

"David Hartt and Linda Johnson Rice in Conversation" @ Museum of Contemporary Art

The MCA Theater, 220 E. Chicago Ave., presents "David Hartt and Linda Johnson Rice in Conversation," today at 3pm. Hartt, a Chicago-based Canadian artist, and Rice, Chairman of Johnson Publishing Company, will discuss Stray Light, Hartt's installation centered on the legacy and history of the historic Ebony/Jet building in downtown Chicago. In-Store Holiday Market @ Transistor

Music and more store, Transistor, is hosting an in-store holiday market with a number of local artists today from 1pm-6pm. The Paper Machete

Celebrate Jane Addams Day with Anita Hill @ The Chicago Temple

The Chicago Temple, 77 W. Washington, hosts the 5th annual "Jane Addams Day" with Professor Anita Hill today from 10am-12pm. Hill, who became a nationally known figure amid sexual harassment allegations against then U.S. Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas, will sign copies of her latest book, Reimagining Equality: Stories of Gender, Race and Finding Home.
