Schubas hosts a two-night series of concerts by JC Brooks and the Uptown Sound. Tonight's show is an 18+ show that starts at 10pm. Tickets are $12 in advance and $30 at the door. Tonight, Eliza Frye signs her new graphic novel, Regalia, at Challengers Comics + Conversation. Regalia is a collection of short stories, one of which was nominated for an Eisner Award. Derik Badman of COMIXTALK says "Frye has a powerful style. I had an immediate, almost visceral reaction to the images." There will be a reading, a display of Frye's paintings and baked goods for refreshments. Challengers Comics + Conversation, 1845 N. Western, at 6pm.
The Sleepers headline a $1 show at the Double Door, 1572 N. Milwaukee Ave., tonight. Mawrcrest and Circus Bear open. Doors open at 8:30pm. 21+
The 18th annual Eve of the Eve gala will be held in Union Station's Great Hall, 500 W. Jackson Blvd., tonight at 8pm. Welcoming more than 2,000 of the city's young professionals, the black-tie optional event's proceeds will benefit the HighSight fun, which provides scholarships, tutoring, and mentoring for high school students.
