Los Campesinos! with Parenthetical Girls @ Metro

In what could be the most amazing double bill of the year, Welsh band Los Campesinos! who are well known for their energetic live shows will be touring with the amazing Parenthetical Girls out of Portland, Oregon. B-Fest 2012

A&O Productions of Northwestern University presents B-Fest 2012, the annual 24-hour B-movie film festival taking place on Northwestern's campus. The festivities begin tonight at 6pm, and end on Saturday evening at 6pm. Expect a full roster of bad movies from the past century of film (blaxploitation, cheezy sci-fi, bad action movies from the 80s, big budget flops, etc.) along with various short films, a raffle of various films & memorabilia, and a midnight screening of the classic Plan 9 From Outer Space. Sifu Design Studio 1st Anniversary Party

Everything is Terrible! @ Lincoln Hall

Everything is Terrible! kick off their latest tour with a screening of Doggie Woggiez! Poochie Woochiez!, supposedly a recreation of Alejandro Jodorowsky’s 1973 film The Holy Mountain using dog-related found footage, tonight at 10pm at Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave. Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 at the door. 21+

Claire Chase (ICE) Solo Flute Recital "Return from Parnassus" @ Art Institute

International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) founder, flautist Claire Chase will present a selection of solo music for flute in a program entitled Return from Parnassasus, at the Art Institute of Chicago's Fullerton Hall. The centerpiece of the program, inspired by Cy Twombly's Return From Parnassus, is the world premier of Marcos Balter's Descent from Parnassus (inspired by Twombly's painting and incorporating spoken texts from Dante's Canto Paradiso I). The performance will also feature music by Toru Takamitsu, Edgard Varese, Iannis Xenakis, and Steve Reich, whose Electric Counterpoint will be performed by percussionist Svet Stoyanov in a new arrangement. Tickets are FREE, and open to the public. Performance begins at 6pm. sharp. Seating begins at 5:40, following the standard Friday 5pm close of the Art Institute. Seating is first come, first served.
