Facets Cinemathequepresents its 10th session of Facets Night School screenings paired with lectures & discussions about the films. Tonight's film is the 1950 biopic Three Came Home, based on the experiences of Oak Park native Agnes Newton Keith, who was imprisoned by the Japanese during World War II. Discussion of the film will be led by author and Facets Night School regular Stephen Reginald. Facets Night School runs Saturday evenings through April 21; the lectures begin at midnight with a $5 fee. See the Facets Website for a complete schedule and to purchase tickets in advance. The annual dyeing of the Chicago River an even brighter shade of green than normal kicks off the city's official St. Patrick's Day celebration. The dying begins at 10am this morning at around Columbus and Wacker. At noon, the Chicago St. Patrick's Day Parade steps off down Columbus Drive, starting from Balbo and ending at Monroe Drive.

Fulton's on the River, 315 N. LaSalle St., has perhaps the best view in town of the dying of the Chicago River for St. Patrick's Day. The restaurant will be hosting its fourth annual "Dye One On" party on its riverside patio today from 8am to 1pm, with heat lamps to keep you warm and food and drink specials such as $5 bangers and mash and $2 pints of green beer. No reservations required.
