Songs for Haiti

At 7pm tonight, the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave., hosts Songs for Haiti, a benefit for The Children's Place International's efforts in Haiti. The Letter 3 (featuring Scott Ligon, Casey McDonough and Alex Hall), Nora O'Connor, Robbie Fulks and Jim Becker perform. Tickets are $15 online or at the door. 21+

Casa de Soul @ Chief O'Neill's

Casa de Soul, chef and GB contributor Alan Lake's Brazilian jazz band, celebrates the release of its new self-titled album tonight at Chief O'Neill's, 3471 N. Elston Ave. -- which happens to be where Lake is currently chef. The show starts at 8pm, but get there early so he can cook you dinner, too. Call 773-583-3066 for reservations. Free, all ages.

The New Colony's Fools Ball @ The Dank Haus

If you've enjoyed getting to know the characters from New Colony theater productions over the last few years (particularly FRAT and Five Lesbians Eating a Quiche), you may want to check out the Colonists' first annual Board Fundraiser, featuring favorite characters from shows past as well as The New Colony's upcoming production in partnership with Bailiwick Chicago, Rise of the Numberless. $40 ticket includes live entertainment, hors d'oeurves, wine and beer, games, and silent auction; group discounts available, booked over email. 8pm, The Dank Haus, 4740 N. Gapers Block Crits

Half Acre Cycling hosts the third annual Gapers Block Crits March 26 through March 29 in Calumet Park (detailed location on the registration page). The first race starts at 6:10pm each day, with the last starting at 7:30pm. Online registration is closed; walk-up registration is $10 per day. And even if you're not riding, you can watch and cheer racers on for free!

Mind Spiders @ Burlington

Mind Spiders fill part of the void that Marked Men leave whenever on hiatus. Their power-poppy punk riffs were superb on their debut EP and have been upped on their most recent Meltdown LP. They headline the Burlington. Chicago's Magic Milk also plays. Doors at 9PM, $8, 21+. The Burlington's at 3425 W Fullerton.

Chicago Chamber Musicians @ Harris Theater

The Chicago Chamber Musicians shows off the rich musical traditions of Latin and South America tonight at the Harris Theater. Composer-musicians Paquito D'Rivera of Cuba and Gabriela Lena Frank of Peru, whose music is featured on the program, will join CCM in performance. Music from Argentinean composers Alberto Ginastera and Angel LaSala rounds out the show with tango and folk-inspired melodies. Tickets are $10-$45. Tonight at 8pm. Bowerbirds @ Lincoln Hall

Songs of Innocence and of Experience @ the Poetry Foundation

Tonight at 6pm, the Poetry Foundation (61 W. Superior) invites you to watch a modern interpretation of William Blake's Songs of Innocence and of Experience, performed by Billy Blake and the Vagabonds. Using folk, pop, country, and gospel music, so it's a must see! Especially considering attendees will receive a free edition of the April 2012 Poetry magazine and an Edie Fake print of "The Little Vagabond" by William Blake. The event will also celebrate Billy Blake and the Vagabonds release of Billy Blake and the Vagabonds Live in Concert.
