Comic Art Battle @ Hideout
The Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave., is the scene for The Comic Art Battle, a fundraiser for the the Chicago Alternative Comics Expo (which happens June 16 & 17). Ezra Clayton Daniels referees a drawing fight between Aaron Renier, Jo Dery, Brooks Golden, Susan Sarandon, David Alvarado, Krystal DiFronzo, Joe Tallarico, Onsmith and Jeremy Pettis. Doors open at 7pm, battle begings at 7:30pm. $5 at the door. 21+
Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory @ Music Box
The Music Box, 3733 N. Southport Ave., screens Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory (the Gene Wilder original) today at 2pm. There will be candy-filled goodie bags, a pre-film sing-along, and a costume contest. Tickets are $12 in advance, $14 at the door.
Empty Bottle Egg-Hunt
The Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western Ave., holds its annual Egg-head Egg Hunt in the club at 1pm today. Search the room for plastic eggs containing tickets to upcoming shows while you enjoy an afternoon beer. Free. 21+
Two Cookie and P. Fanatics Team Up Part Two!
The two literary series Two Cookie Minimum and P Fanatics for a second time this week. They meet up today. Easter Sunday, with free cookies, zines and a festive lineup including Dan Shapiro, Lindsay Hunter, Matt Rowan, Fred Sasaki and Fred Sasaki (father/son duo!), musical comedy by Rich Salamander, and house band Hawaiian Death Folk Presents. The show will be hosted by Mason Johnson and Johnny Misfit, 7:30pm at Cole's Bar, 2338 N. Milwaukee Ave.
