Story Club @ Uncommon Ground on Clark

I's time for another installment of Story Club - this month's theme is "moving." Tonight's lineup includes 4 open mic slots and 3 featured readers: Essay Fiesta producer Keith Ecker, essayist Jen Companick, and actor Andrew Marikis. Songwriting Workshop @ Old Town School of Folk Music

The Old Town School of Folk Music presents a songwriting workshop headed by Adrianne Gonzalez and Natalia Zukerman, co-creators of the art is song music & painting project. The workshop happens in the school's new building at 4545 North Lincoln Avenue, runs from 7pm to 9pm, and costs $20. Plant Your Own Urban Prairie

Got a green thumb, or wish yours was a bit greener? The American Indian Center of Chicago is hosting the Prairie Keepers Urban and Backyard Prairie series of free workshops. Tonight's event will cover budgeting, tools, and how to design your garden. The workshop will include a tour of the AIC's prairie garden, and the different ways space is utilized with the garden's design. The workshop will run from 6 to 8 p.m. at the center (1630 W. Spiritualized plays a show at Metro, 3730 N. Clark St., tonight at 8pm. Tickets are $25 in advance, $27 at the door. 18+

Morbid Curiosity Poetry Winners @ Chicago Cultural Center

The "Morbid Curiosity" exhibit at the Chicago Cultural Center runs through July 8 and features 14,000 square feet of artwork exploring the universality of death in different cultures. Check it out tonight to hear the history of Chicago's Bangs sisters, 19th Century seance hostesses extraordinaire. The evening will include a live seance and readings from the winners of the Chicago Publishes Morbid Curiosity Poetry Contest. Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington, 7pm.
