Orphée @ Logan Square

The Logan Square International Film Series kicks off its spring season with an outdoor presentation of Jean Cocteau's Orphée at the Logan Square Comfort Station, 2579 N. Milwaukee Ave., tonight at 8pm. Free, but donations accepted.

Jac Jemc My Only Wife Reading

Jac Jemc will read from her first novel, My Only Wife. The book was released in early April on Dzanc books. Join her to hear from what writer Blake Butler calls, "a novel concerned with timeless dedication, love, and respect." Stick around after the reading to snag a copy (and get her to sign it). The reading is set for 7:30pm at Women & Children First, 5233 N Clark.

826CHI's People Eating & Giving

826CHI holds its annual gala fundraiser, People Eating & Giving, at the University Club, 76 E. Monroe St., tonight, with special guests Molly Ringwald, Luis Urrea and Jeff Tweedy. Cocktail reception begins at 6pm, with dinner and program beginning at 7pm. Tickets are $125.

The Film on Thelma Jordon @ Portage Theater

Tonight at 7:30pm, the Northwest Chicago Film Society screens Robert Siodmak's The Film on Thelma Jordon at the Portage Theater, 4050 N. Milwaukee Ave. Their classic film series continues every Wednesday. Admission is $5.

Jason Lescalleet, Olivia Block @ The Burlington

Maine-based tape musician Jason Lescalleet makes a rare appearance in Chicago tonight at The Burlington (3425 W. Fullerton) as part of a tour through the midwest. His twin performances at the 2010 Neon Marshmallow Fest were inspiring, particularly his matchup with the reed/horn duo nmperign. Here, he will play solo, and Chicago composer Olivia Block will perform as well. 9 p.m., $7 suggested donation. More information at Transmission.

Lee Fields & the Expressions @ Lincoln Hall

Lee Fields' career has spanned 40+ years, but it's just within the last few that he's made his biggest mark. His latest album, Faithful Man, might as well have come out of a time capsule. It's 70s southern soul with some bite. Lee Fields & the Expressions headline Lincoln Hall. The show starts at 9PM. It's 21+ and $15. Lincoln Hall's at 2424 N Lincoln.
