CNU-Illinois Bus Rapid Transit on the Western Avenue Corridor Event @ Floyd's Pub

Join CNU-Illinois at Floyd's Pub with special guests Josh Ellis and Peter Skosey from Metropolitan Planning Council and Chris Zeimann from the Chicago Transit Authority for a discussion on Bus Rapid Transit.

The event will include a short tour of Western Avenue where our guests will point out opportunities and challenges of retrofitting a street with BRT.

Chicago Underground Film Festival

The Gene Siskel Film Center hosts the 19th annual Chicago Underground Film Festival, which starts tonight and runs through June 7. The opening film tonight is The Fourth Dimension, featuring work by three directors (Alexsei Fedorchenko,

"Save Our Fullmers" @ Book Cellar

Tonight at 7pm, The Book Cellar, 4736-38 N. Lincoln Ave., holds a fundraiser for John Fullmer, an editor of Knee Jerk magazine and Book Cellar employee, and his expecting wife, who recently lost everything in a house fire. Lindsay Hunter, Jonathon Messinger, Amy Sumpter, Chris Terry, Adam Levin, Keith Ecker and Robbie Q. Telfer will read. Donations accepted.

Lincoln Square Mayfest

Mayfest kicks off tonight from 5:30 to 9pm in Lincoln Square, at Leland/Lincoln and Western, and runs through June 3. Drink beer, eat sausages and pretzels and have a good time. Tonight's entertainment includes the Old Town School Alumni Band and the Captain Blood Orchestra. Admission is free.

John Huston @ Evanston Public Library

Tonight, Evanston resident John Huston will show a multimedia presentation from his book (cowritten with Tyler Fish) Forward: The First American Unsupported Expedition to the North Pole. Evanston Public Library, 1703 Orrington Ave., Evanston, at 7pm.
