Canada's amazingly talented songwriter Patrick Watson returning to Chicago and this time will be playing Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave., tonight at 10pm. Tickets are $15 in advance or $18 at the door (if available). 21+
The Chicago Cinema Society presents a classic kung-fu double feature, Master of the Flying Guillotine and Fist of the White Lotus, on 35mm at the Portage Theater, 4050 N. Milwaukee Ave., tonight starting at 7pm. The screenings will be followed by a Q&A with 35mm Shaolin Archive director Dan Halsted. Tickets are $9 in advance or at the door.
DePaul's School of Cinema and Interactive Media presents the Premiere VII Film Festival, an evening of the best short films produced by students during the 2011-12 school year, at the Music Box Theatre, 3733 N. Southport Ave. Doors open at 7pm, the screening starts at 7:30pm. Free.
Mark Bazer's Interview Show returns to the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave., tonight from 6:30pm to 8pm. This month, Bazer's guests are restaurateur Michael Kornick, multitalented artist Tony Fitzpatrick, author Rich Cohen, The Hood Internet's STV SLV, and musician Matt Baron. Inkling, 2917-1/2 N. Broadway, celebrates its second anniversary with a party and opening reception for an exhibition of screenprints by Dan Grzeca tonight from 6pm to 10pm.
Mayfest runs May 31 to June 3 in Lincoln Square, clogging the intersection of Leland/Lincoln and Western with people drinking beer, eating sausages and pretzels and generally having a good time. The festival starts at 5pm tonight and runs till 11pm, with music by Phenix (not Phoenix) and the Polkaholics. Admission is free.
The sixth annual Do Division street festival runs three days this year -- June 1-3 -- on Division Street between Ashland and Damen avenues. The party starts tonight from 5pm to 10pm, with music on stages at Damen and Leavitt, and more than 300 vendors selling clothing, accessories, art and crafts. $5 suggested donation.
