"Get Up and Go!" The Chicago River Tour @ Chicago Cultural Center

Chicago's "Get Up and Go!" neighborhood conversation and tour series continues today with the Chicago River. Hosted by Mark Bazer, host of The Hideout's acclaimed Interview Show, the tour begins with a discussion about the Chicago River's highlights and history followed by a visit to the borough. The tour is free and begins at 12:15pm in the Chicago Cultural Center's 5th Floor Millennium Park Room, 78 E. Washington St., with the Q&A session lasting approximately 40 minutes. The tour will last approximately one hour and will depart from and return to the Chicago Cultural Center via public transportation. Reservations are recommended and can be booked online here.

American Music Festival @ FitzGerald's

FitzGerald's, in Berwyn, hosts its 32nd annual American Music Festival June 29-July 3. Dozens of bands play on three stages, while concertgoers enjoy Cajun and Italian food and excellent beverages. Tickets are $30 per day at the door, with a $5 discount for the first hour of each day; children under 12 get in for $5 and can stay till 9pm. Four-day passes are available for $100 in advance or at the door. Doors open at 4:30pm today, with performances by Special Consensus Bluegrass Band, Walter Salas Humara, Expo ‘76 with the Total Pro Horns, Bunkertown, Lydia Loveless, Honey Island Swamp Band, Cannonball, Chuck Prophet, Cannon-Town, Tributosaurus as Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Waco Brothers & Friends featuring Paul Burch. Toucan Cookie Minimum

Two Cookie Minimum reading series teams up with the Toucan Literary Magazine to present Toucan Cookie Minimum. This reading will promote the Toucan's July release.

Readers include Greg Baldino, T.W Townsend, and Nikki Dolson. With music by Kat Kidwell. Plus the magazine's editrices Liz Baulder and Laura Rynberg will read submissions from previous issues. Hosted by Johnny Misfit. At the Hungry Brain 2319 W. Belmont at 9pm.
