Tonight The Hideout presents The Lowbrow Reader Variety hour, a book release party for The Lowbrow Reader Reader (Drag City Books). The evening features musicians Ezra Furman, Daniel Knox and comedian Charlie Bury. The Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave. at 9pm, $10.

Tonight you can be a part of "Theater Thursdays" and enjoy a complimentary cocktail and appetizers while getting a behind-the-scenes peek before you sit back for Micheal Hollinger's Opus performed by Redtwist Theater. 6PM pre-show; 7:30pm performance, $17.50, 2401 N. Tonight at 7:30pm, the Northwest Chicago Film Society screens the sci-fi classic Invasion of the Body Snatchers at the Portage Theater, 4050 N. Milwaukee Ave. Their classic film series continues every Wednesday (exception for the 4th). Admission is $5.
This month's theme at Story Club is "Go." Tonight's lineup includes 4 open mic slots and 4 featured readers: Musical comedienne/improv star Sarah Shockey; Stand up comic/PhD student Suzy Krueckeberg; Moth producer Tyler James Greene; and Story Challenge contestant Mimi Nguyen who will tell a story on the audience-assigned topic of: Horse Racing.
