Chef Battle Royale

WBEZ presents the Chef Battle Royale tonight at 6pm at Salvage One, 1840 W. Hubbard St. "The Morning Shift" host Tony Sarabia leads a discussion with food bloggers and dining scene personalities while attendees sample Ethiopian food from Ras Dashen, Vietnamese and Chinese dishes from Tank Noodle, Polish food from Restaurant Staropolska, Puerto Rican specialties from Borinquen and vegetarian fare from Munch. Black Dog Gelato will offer Goose Island root beer floats, and Intelligentsia and Goose Island Beer will be served. Tickets are $10 for students, $12 for WBEZ members and $15 for the general public.

West/Near West Side Community Budget Hearing

Members of the Progressive Caucus of City Council hold a community hearing on the 2013 municipal budget tonight at 6pm at Wells High School, 936 N. Me So Far: "Just for the Fellas"

Me So Far presents "Just for the Fellas," a singles event for men seeking men. Come hear the slideshow stories of single fellas at Sushi Taiyo's private lounge, 58 E. Ontario Ave., from 6:30 to 9pm. Audience tickets are $30.

EAT THIS! Stories for the Love of Food

Neck-Breaker Productions and The Lincoln Lodge will present the first show in the brand new storytelling series, EAT THIS! Stories for the Love of Food, tonight at 8pm at the Lincoln Lodge, 4008 N. Lincoln Ave. Host of the show is Monte LaMonte, and features stories told by folks from the food industry, including "Hot" Doug Sohn, Cleetus Friedman, Madeleine Yastrow, Chuck Sudo, Justin White, Lena Dahl and Victoria Wiedel. Swans @ Metro

Michael Gira and Swans will bring their legendary squall to the Metro, 3730 N. Clark St., tonight for an evening of blasted-out noise rock in support of their newest double-LP The Seer.
