Okkyung Lee & David Behrman Workshop

As a prelude to tomorrow's performance, cellist Okkyung Lee and electronic composer David Behrman will conduct a free workshop starting at 3 pm at the Graham Foundation's Madlener House, 4 W. Burton Pl., in collaboration with Lampo. Lee, a cellist working in the territories between classical, improv, jazz, and Korean traditional music, will speak about developing extended techniques for a musical instrument. Behrman, one of the founders of the Sonic Arts Union in 1966, will speak to the audience about flexible scores and methods of using interactive triggers in electronic music. Audience members are encouraged to bring their own instruments to experiment with Mr. Behrman's gear. Admission is free, but RSVP is required. Berman and Lee perform Saturday night, also at the Madlener House; preview in Transmission.

Englewood Film Festival

The Englewood Film Festival runs Oct. 25-28 at several locations throughout the Englewood neighborhood. Tonight's opening reception features the film I Ain't Scared of You: A Tribute to Bernie Mac, at Kennedy King College Auditorium, 6301 S. Halsted St., at 5pm. Tickets are $27.

Dave Thomas @ Second City

Comedian, writer and director Dave Thomas visits the Writers' Salon at the Second City Training Center, 1608 N. Wells St., tonight at 5:30pm. Tickets are $20, and includes wine and light appetizers.

Art, Wine and Entertainment @ DuSable Museum

The DuSable Museum, 740 E. 56th St., presents "Art, Wine and Entertainment," tonight from 7pm-10pm. The event, in conjunction with the museum's "Buried Treasures in African-American Museums" exhibit, will feature work by artists including Henry O. Tanner and Elizabeth Catlett, as well as live art demonstrations, music, spoken word and a museum tour. Tickets are $10; for more information, call 773-947-0600 x290.

The Chainlink Halloween Party

Cyclist community site The Chainlink holds its second annual Halloween Party tonight at Working Bikes Cooperative, 2434 S. Western Ave., from 7pm to midnight. Ride up on your bike, watch Environmental Encroachment, Swimsuit Addition and The Racketeers perform, enjoy Lagunitas beer and enter a raffle for gift certificates to local bike shops. $20 at the door; early-bird tickets are $15.

Freaky Deaky @ Congress Theater

React Presents, er, presents Freaky Deaky, a Halloween dance party featuring the Bloody Beetroots, Wolfgang Gartner, Midnight Conspiracy, Popeska and more, at the Congress Theater, 2135 N. The Whisperer in Darkness @ Film Center

The Gene Siskel Film Center 164 N. State St., presents a screening of The Whisperer in Darkness, an adaptation of the HP Lovecraft film done in the style of classic 1930s monster movies. Facets Night School: Psycho Sleepover

Tonight Facets Cinematheque continues Facets Night School, their series of cult film screenings paired with lectures and discussions, with a midnight screening of the 2008 film Psycho Sleepover. Tonight's screening will be accompanied by a lecture and discussion by Facets Night School regular Joseph R. Lewis. Facets Night School runs Saturday nights at midnight through October 27.
