Spooky Singalong @ Old Town School of Folk Music

The Old Town School of Folk Music presents a family concert this morning at 11am in their main concert hall at 4544 North Lincoln Avenue. The Wiggleworms faculty will be leading a singalong of songs about ghosts, witches, and other spooky (but not scary) creatures. Tickets are $12, or $11 for school members. Halloween Havoc 5 @ Portage Theater

The Portage Theater, 4050 N. Milwaukee Ave., hosts Halloween Havoc 5, a five-day horror film festival Oct. 28-Nov. 1. Starting at 11am today, watch Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein, House of Frankenstein, Poltergeist, The Thing and The Exorcist. A vintage toy and collectible fair will be in the lobby. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for kids.

Eyeworks Festival of Experimental Animation

DePaul University School of Cinema and Interactive Media and
Roots & Culture Contemporary Art Center present the Eyeworks Festival of Experimental Animation, which runs Saturday and today. Today at the DePaul School of CIM, 247 S. State St., Lower Level, two programs of short animated works will be screened, beginning at 1pm and 4pm. Admission is $10 for each program.

The Big Draw Chicago: Drawing Maps

The Big Draw Chicago concludes with a presentation today at 2-3:30pm at Berger Park Cultural Center, 6205 N. Sheridan Rd., on drawing maps with Dennis McCendon of Chicago Cartographics. Free.

The Creeping Shudder @ Bucket o' Blood

Tonight, Bucket o' Blood Books and Records hosts "The Creeping Shudder" horror reading featuring Cynthia Pelayo, Jordan Scrivner, Miranda Steffens, Marc Ruvolo and Regan Keeter. Bucket o' Blood, 2307 N. Milwaukee Ave., at 6pm.

Englewood Film Festival

The Englewood Film Festival runs Oct. 25-28 at several locations throughout the Englewood neighborhood. Today's closing film and networking event features A Million Colours at 6:30pm at Ice Theaters 210 W. 87th St.Tickets are $10.

Cat Power @ The Riv The Vic

Smoldering songstress, Cat Power, takes to the Vic Theater tonight. She's promoting her new album, Sun, and X-Ray Eyeballs and Willis Earl Beal will open the show. Doors open at 7pm, and the show starts at 8pm. Tickets are $34, 18+. Read our preview in Transmission. [Update: This show has been moved to The Vic Theater, at 3145 N.
