The North Shore Turkey Trot runs through downtown Highland Park with a 5K race at 7:30am and a 10K race at 8am. Registration has closed, but the participation fee was $35-45.
The 79th annual McDonald's Thanksgiving Parade travels through downtown Chicago on State Street from Congress to Randolph, from 8am until 11am. It features giant helium balloons, decorative floats, marching bands, celebrities, and even Santa Claus. Free, all ages.
Paul Rodriguez hosts two free Thanksgiving dinners for the needy, followed by comedy shows, today at the Laugh Factory, 3175 N. Broadway, at noon and 3pm. Reservations are recommended; call 773-327-3175, ext. 1. Donations accepted.
Navy Pier's Odyssey cruise liner offers a special way to enjoy Thanksgiving with your family. Hop aboard the luxury ship for a traditional buffet as it floats around the city's beautiful skyline on Lake Michigan. Tickets to the afternoon lunch cruise at 2:30pm are $49.90 per adult and $29.95 per child (ages 3-12). Tickets to the dinner cruise, which also features a live performance, are $69.90 per adult and $41.95 per child (ages 3-12).
