Larry Nugent, a flute and whistle player, hosts a Traditional Irish Session at Abbey Pub, 3420 W. Grace St., in the Green Room at 6pm. There will be $4 drink specials on Guinness and Bloody Marys. Free, 21+.
Windy City Rock is hosting a special night of local bands benefiting Rock For Kids, a charity that provides music education to underprivileged kids in Chicago tonight at the Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western Ave. Starting at 6pm, and for a donation price that you choose, hear bands including Rambos, Panda Riot, We Repel Each Other, The Hecks, Massive Ego, Shiloh, and Tiny Fireflies, as well as a special DJ set by White Mystery's Alex White. Punk/indie rock band Titus Andronicus headlines a show at the Metro, 3730 N. Clark St., at 8pm. The band is a champion of buying local and supporting small businesses. They even named their most recent album Local Business. Cermony and Coffin Pricks will open. Tickets are $18, 18+.
An improvisational jam band trifecta will go down at Reggies Rock Club, 2105 S. State St., at 9pm. Local fusion rock band Thinner Teed, Minnesotan fusion rock band Circle of Heat and celtic pirate rock group Potcheen will play. Tickets are $5, 21+.
