Slowdown

GB store

Auction @ Charlie Trotter's

The legendary restaurant, which closed in August after 25 years in business, will be selling off its wares today onsite (816 W. Armitage). Everything from the decor to the ovens is on the block; begins at 11am.

Bubbles Night @ Galleria Liquors

'Tis the season for bubblers and sparklers -- winewise, that is. Galleria Liquors will be pouring more than 40 sparkling wines at its Bubbles Night. Hors d'oeuvres: complimentary; reservations: recommended. (The best part: you can enter the store via the Southport Brown Line station, so there's absolutely no reason to drive.) 3409 N. Southport, (773) 857-6200.

South Side Story Club

Story Club takes its show to the Co-Prosperity Sphere 3219 S. Morgan St., tonight. The evening's featured storytellers include stand-up comic Kelsie Huff and role-playing game designer Kenneth Hite. Open mic sign-up starts at 8pm, show starts at 8:15pm. $5 suggested donation.

Chicago Slam Works Presents "Dead or Alive" @ The Raven Theatre

Chicago Slam Works presents the second of three "Dead or Alive" performances at The Raven Theatre (6157 N. Clark), preceded by "Slammin' in the Footlights," a benefit to celebrate CSW's new home at the Raven Theatre and to raise awareness of CSW programs. "Dead or Alive" features actors portraying deceased poets such as Gwendolyn Brooks (Paulette McDaniels), Langston Hughes (Shannon Matesky), Etheridge Knight (Jared Grant), Jonathan Swift (Robbie Q. Telfer), and Anne Sexton (Rebecca Levine). The actors will perform the poems in a mock slam against Chicago poets Sage Morgan Hubbard, Raych Jackson, Kevin Kern, Sharrieff Muhammad, Emily Rose and Fatimah Asghar. Show starts at 8pm, benefit tickets are $50 and can be purchased online or by calling 847-556-8679

Tribute to Chamaco Ramírez @ Old Town School of Folk Music

The Old Town School of Folk Music celebrates the life and music of Puerto-Rican improvisational salsa singer Chamaco Ramírez tonight as part of the ongoing World Music Wednesdays concert series. The concert includes an exclusive preview of Alive and Kicking, an upcoming documentary about the life of Ramírez, who helped bring in salsa's golden age in the '60s and '70s before his death in 1983. The show begins at 8:30pm and is open to all ages. $10 donation suggested. The Old Town School is located at 4544 N Lincoln Ave.

The Faint @ Metro

The Faint's 2001 ode to death, Danse Macabre, is one of the Omaha electro/dance-rock band's best releases. On their current tour, they're performing the album in full and sprinkling other songs from their past and future in the set. As with their other tours, it is sure to be a spectacle with crazy stage antics and a lot of strobe lights. Bring your sunglasses and dancing shoes. The Faint headline Metro, 3730 N. Clark St., with Danse Macabre. The show is 18+ and $22. Trust and Icky Blossoms open at 9pm.
