You'll tour and sample foods and drinks from four of Wicker Park's best eating holes (Butcher and Larder, Prasino, The Bedford, and Frontier) beginning at 2:30pm; even the chefs will be on hand for questions. Tickets $145.
The Chicago Arts District's monthly Second Fridays neighborhood-wide open house is tonight, centered around 18th and Halsted streets. Dozens of galleries and studios are open starting at around 6pm, with many artists selling work. Free.
The Music Box Theatre presents their 29th annual Christmas show, with showings of the Christmas classics It's A Wonderful Life and White Christmas. You can see just one film, or purchase tickets for both films at a discount. Each screening features an appearance by Santa Claus, and the singing of Christmas carols accompanied by the Music Box organist. The double feature starts tonight, and runs through December 24. Tonight, at 7pm, Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave., presents "The Kamau Mau Uprising Tour," starring stand-up comedian W. Kamau Bell. Bell, star of his own weekly F/X show, "Totally Biased," brings his political and cultural humor back to Chicago for one-night only. Comedian Janine Brito opens. South Side Projections and Calles y Suenos-Chicago present Boundary Lines: Three Films about Immigration tonight at 7pm at Calles y Sueños-Chicago, 1900 S. Carpenter St. Films will include Boundary Lines (1945), Atlantiques (2009) and Norte Y Sur (2009). Luis Sánchez Ramírez, director of Norte Y Sur, will be in attendance for a Q&A. $5 suggested donation.
If you've always thought that Charles Dickens needed more nudity, you're in luck: tonight at 7pm, Naked Girls Reading reads A Christmas Carol, as well as other holiday favorites, at the Everleigh Social Club, 939 W. Randolph St. Spiked hot chocolate will be served. Tickets are $20, or $35 for two.
Karen Carpenter biographer Randy Schmidt will be at Uncharted Books, 2630 N. Milwaukee Ave., tonight at 7pm for a reading and discussion of his books Yesterday Once More: The Carpenters Reader and Little Girl Blue: The Life of Karen Carpenter along with a screening of highlights from two Carpenters Christmas TV specials.
