The Chicago Art Girls Pop-up Shop is open Saturday and today from 11am to 5pm in Helium, 4710 N. Ravenswood Ave. Shop among more than two dozen female artists and crafters. Admission is free.
The Chicago Urban Art Society holds its annual Windy City Artist Alley today from noon to 6pm at 1664 S. Blue Island Ave. Shop for art, craft, vintage furniture, records and more while listening to music spun by Dj Trew and DJ Select Inverse. Admission is free.
Transistor, 3819 N. Lincoln Ave., hosts a craft show with collective Pieces of Craft Saturday and today. Shop for awesome things from 1pm to 6pm. Free, and BYOB.
The Alliance Dance Company holds its annual Winter Dance Bash Saturday and today at Ruth Page Theater, 1016 N. Dearborn St. The evening features performances by the Alliance Dance Company, Innervation Dance Cooperative, M.A.D.D. Rhythms, Extensions Dance Company and NorthSide Dance Theater. Tickets are $16 for adults, $8 for children with the discount code SNOWFUN, or $20/$10 at the door. Today's performance begins at 2:30pm.
As part of the Metro's continuing 30th anniversary celebration, Braid will play 1998's Frame and Canvas at 6pm tonight at the Metro, 3730 N. Clark St. The Midwest indie stalwarts have been touring once again after a decade-plus hiatus, and recently released the EP Closer to Closed. Into It. Over It., Diamond Youth, and Cut Teeth will open. Tickets are $17.
