Three songwriters, three powerful voices: Chicago natives Sima Cunningham, Macie Stewart (Kids These Days) and Alaina Stacey bring together an array of younger luminaries from throughout the city's music scene for a night that seamlessly blends rock, jazz, and R&B (often all in the same song) at Schubas, 3159 N. Southport. Show starts at 7pm, tickets available here for $10. All ages.
SWOP Chicago hosts its 10th annual Veneration of Whores, a celebration and candlelight vigil in honor of the International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers, from 7:30pm to 9:30pm tonight at ARTango Center, 4203 N. Ravenswood Ave. There will be talks by sex worker advocates, burlesque performances, music by DJ All the Way Kay, and the aforementioned candlelight vigil. Free.
Supporters of the Portage Theatre, 4050 N. Milwaukee Ave., hold a "save the Portage Theatre as we know it" tonight at 7:30pm. Watch a documentary about the theater, view a historical slide show, enjoy a live jazz band and enter a raffle. Free, but donations accepted.
