The MLK Project: The Fight for Civil Rights @ Chicago History Museum

The Writers' Theatre, in conjunction with the Chicago History Museum, 1601 N. Clark St., hosts the 7th annual The MLK Project: The Fight for Civil Rights, today at 12pm. Directed by Jimmy McDermott and starring Caren Blackmore, this one-woman show, featuring poetry, music and multimedia, is the story of a Chicago student's experience with studying the events of the Civil Rights Movement. A Concert Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. @ Symphony Center

The Chicago Sinfonietta presents "A Concert Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr." tonight at 7:30pm. Led by noted music director Mei-Ann Chen and held at the Symphony Center, 220 S. Michigan Ave., the concert will pay tribute to the late civil rights leader with opera and choir selections. Tickets are $10-$50; for more information, call 312- 236-3681.

Gunman's Walk @ Portage Theater

The Northwest Chicago Film Society screens a 35mm Cinemascope print of Gunman's Walk at the Portage Theater, 4050 N. Milwaukee Ave., tonight at 7:30pm. Tickets are $5.
