The Cider Summit at Navy Pier brings together cider makers from around the world, offering more than 60 ciders for you to try. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door, and include a tasting glass and 10 drink tickets; additional drink tickets are $2 apiece. The event is in the Lakeview Terrace Room from 11am to 7pm. 21+
Gapers Block's second annual BBQ Bowl is at Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave., today! From noon to 3pm, sample ribs by some of the city's top barbecue joints and vote on your favorite. Participating restaurants, including Barn & Company, Harmony Grill, Mrs. Murphy & Sons Irish Bistro, PorkChop, Robinson's, Rub BBQ and more. We'll have live music from Marko Casso, drink specials and a raffle, too. Admission is $20 online or at the door. All ages.
The Handmade Market returns to the Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western Ave., today from noon to 4pm. Browse the handiwork of more than two dozen local artisans while enjoying the Bottle's ambiance and perhaps a beer. Free, 21+ except for children accompanying an adult.
The Lincoln Square Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce and the Square Kegs Home Brew Club host the second annual WinterBrew beer festival and homebrew competition today at DANK Haus, 4740 N. Western Ave. Two sessions, from 2 to 5pm and 7 to 10pm, will feature beer from local breweries including 5 Rabbit, Begyle, Finch, Half Acre, Metropolitan and Revolution, as well as food by the Grafton Pub and Fountainhead and spirits by Koval Distillery. General admission is $10 and includes a 9oz. tasting glass. Drink/food tickets are $1 apiece.

The Music Box presents a double feature of two Don Coscarelli films, to celebrate his new film John Dies At The End. That film will screen tonight at 7:20pm, and will be followed by the film Phantasm II at 9:45pm. Mr. Coscarelli will be in attendance for a Q&A session after the first film.
