The Hideout (1354 West Wabansia) holds its Soup and Bread weekly fundraiser tonight from 5:30-8pm (or until the soup runs out). Local chefs and foodies prepare a selection of soups for your casual slurping from the bar's crock pots, with (encouraged) donations going to a local food-related charity. This year each week has a theme, and tonight's is "NYC vs. LA." Event is age 21+, but children can be admitted if accompanied by an adult.
Me So Far's first-ever Forty Plus event is tonight from 6:15 to 9pm in the upstairs lounge at Sushi Taiyo, 58 E. Ontario St. Hear the slideshow stories of singles on or around their 40th birthday. Tickets are $30-50.
Provenance Food & Wine, Veruca Chocolates team up with the Grafton (4530 N. Lincoln Avenue) for an evening of chocolate, cheese, rum and beer. Your $20 admission gets you four paired "courses" of these lovely snacks and drinks to enjoy while you wait for spring. Event begins at 7pm.
The Northwest Chicago Film Society presents a 35mm screening of Hold Back the Dawn at 7:30pm tonight at the Portage Theater, 4050 N. Milwaukee Ave. Tickets are $5.
