Story Week

Columbia College's Story Week runs March 17-22, with multiple events each day. Today's activities begin at 11am, and include Literary Rock 'n' Roll: Girl Trouble, an event featuring readings by Gillian Flynn, Jane Hamilton and Joe Meno, with music by The Right Now, at the Metro, 3730 N. From Chicago Out to the World: Advancing LGBTQ Human Rights

The Chicago History Museum's "Out at CHM" series continues tonight with "From Chicago Out to the World: Advancing LGBTQ Human Rights," a discussion of significant initiatives happening in Chicago via presentations on asylum policies, LGBTQ rights abroad, and queer political identities by Keren Zwick and Stefano Fabeni of Heartland Alliance, and Lynette Jackson of the University of Illinois at Chicago. Sid Mohn, president of Chicago’s Heartland Alliance, moderates. Tickets are $10 for museum members, $15 for non-members. The event takes place in the auditorium at the History Museum, 1601 N. Clark St. Doors open at 6:15pm.

Links Hall THAW @ DANK Haus

THAW, the annual benefit for Links Hall, is tonight at 6:30pm at DANK Haus, 4730 N. Western Ave. The event features dance, puppetry, burlesque, a live-action video game called The Battle of Booze Mountain and more. Tickets are $30 in advance, $40 at the door.

Mitch O'Connell book signing @ Quimby's

Quimby's presents a book signing and slideshow by local artist Mitch O'Connell, promoting his new book Mitch O'Connell: The World's Best Artist. The event starts at 7pm at Quimby's (1854 West North Avenue), and is free and open to the public. Full details at the Quimby's Website.

Las Guitarras de España @ City Winery

Las Guitarras de España is a world music ensemble centered around Chicago-based flamenco guitarist Carlo Basile, vocalist Patricia Ortega, and dancer Wendy Clinard. The group performs a variety of pan-Latin-American sounds with a focus on Spanish-style guitar and dance. The ensemble plays City Winery tonight along with collaborators Los Hombres Perdidos, whose own music offers a Spanish-language counterpart to frontman Colin Bunn's former band, Andrew Bird's Bowl of Fire. Tickets range from $15 to $20. Doors open at 6pm, and the show begins at 8pm. City Winery is located at 1200 W. Randolph St. This show is all ages.

The Chicago Outfit's Derby Prom @ Berlin

Stardust and The Chicago Outfit host the Derby Prom tonight at 10pm at Berlin, 954 W. Belmont Ave. DJs JD Samson and Alinka spin, A/S/L takes photos, and there will be drink specials all night. $7 at the door. 21+
