Dining Out for Life

A slew of fantastic restaurants (among them Longman & Eagle, Big Jones, and Sola) will donate a portion of their proceeds from today's meal sales (breakfast, lunch or dinner, if applicable) to Edge Alliance as part of Dine Out for Life, a nationwide event to support AIDS-related service organizations.

Chicago Latino Film Festival

The 29th annual Chicago Latino Film Festival, organized by the International Latino Cultural Center, runs April 11-25 at the AMC Loews Theatres 600, 600 N. Michigan Ave. Today's screenings begin at 6pm; see the schedule for full details. Tickets to each film are $11.

Robert Perišic @ Seminary Co-op Bookstore

Tonight, Robert Perišic reads from Our Man In Iraq at the Seminary Co-op Bookstore, 5757 S. University Ave. Perišic is a best-selling author in Croatia; Our Man In Iraq is the first of his books to be translated into English. The event is cosponsored by the Consulate General of the Republic of Croatia in Chicago and Asymptote Journal. 6pm.

Me So Far: Educated in CHI

Me So Far, the slideshow storytelling singles event series, focuses on graduates of Chicago-area universities in this month's event. Hear Tickets are $30, or $50 for two if you bring a friend. Doors open at 6:15pm, presentations begin at 6:30pm.

Laydeez Do Comics @ Quimby's

Quimby's Bookstore is back with its April installment of Laydeez Do Comics, a monthly series of presentations by women in comics, along with men in comics who like women in comics. Comics creators share their experiences, creation processes, and thoughts on the medium in an intimate gathering at the back of Quimby's, and visitors can ask questions and discuss comics while enjoying light snacks and refreshments. The lineup of presenters of TBA, and the event is free, taking place at 7 p.m. at 1854 W. North Ave.

Advertising Agency Battle of the Bands @ Cubby Bear

Five ad agencies hold a battle of the bands to benefit the Off the Street Club tonight at the Cubby Bear, 1059 W. Addison St., tonight at 7pm. Watch AnswersMedia, Havas Worldwide, Energy BBDO, Leo Burnett and Digitas duke it out with advertising-themed songs and vote for your favorite. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door. VIP passes, which include open bar and a t-shirt, are $55 in advance, $75 at the door. 21+

Birdemic 2 @ Patio Theater

The Patio Theater and the Chicago Cinema Society presents a one-night-only screening of Birdemic 2: The Resurrection. The very special guests at the screening will be the film's director James Nguyen and producer Jeff Gross, which will be abailable for Q&A after the movie. (And there WILL be many questions.) The screening starts at 9:00pm. Advance tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite.
