Revisit the Wicker Park bars that defined the work of author Nelson Algren with the Chicago History Museum (and writer/historians Paul Durica and Bill Savage). Tour runs 7-10pm; tickets $30-35.
Andersonville's own Koval Distillery will be holding a tasting of cocktails made with their locally distilled, specialty spirits at Joe's Wine Cellar (2108 W. Division) tonight from 6 - 8 pm. The cocktails and excellent people watching from the patio are both free.
This monthly showcase presents funny stories from Chicago comics and storytellers. Audience can put their name in a hat for a chance to tell their own story, and the winner (loudest applause) is invited back as a featured performer. Celebchefs Anthony Bourdain and Eric Ripert duke it out tonight at the Auditorium Theatre, 50 E. Congress Pkwy. at 7:30pm. Tickets $35-150. The smugness is free.
Three of Chicago's most unique female comedic voices come together for a night of solo performances. Battle-scarred Chicago comedy veterans Danielle Wheeler, Sherra Lasley, and Erin Sprague each perform a different set of characters, telling their peculiar stories and demolishing the standard 'showcase' format with polished, smart, and undeniably funny material. The show is Thursdays at 8 pm thru May, at The Public House Theatre (3914 N. Clark), tickets are $10.
pHusion fuses pH Comedy Theater's hilarious brand of improv comedy with the work of different guest artists from Chicago's talented theater, dance, music, and writing communities. The guest artists will showcase their work on stage and the cast of pH, seeing it for the first time, will use that performance as inspiration for an improvised show. pHusion plays every Thursday at 8pm from May 9 to June 13.
