Food, crowds and heat intersect at this four-day celebration of all things Chicago, which kicks off at 11am today at Grant Park. Free admission (but the food tickets and entertainment will cost you!).
Peruse an exhibit of over 30 photographs of iconic Chicago hot dog culture while enjoying the breathtaking view at the Cliff Dwellers Club, one of Chicago's hidden cultural gems. The images are featured in a new book, Man Bites Dog: Hot Dog Culture In America by Patty Carroll and Bruce Kraig (who will also be judging the GB Hot Dog Cookoff!). Free, with a cash bar from 5:30 to 7:30pm at 200 S. Michigan Ave, 22nd floor.
All the cool kids will be at the Hideout (1354 W. Wabansia) tonight for Veggie Bingo, a summerlong series brought to you by the good folks at Soup and Bread and NeighborSpace. Play the game, enjoy a grilled hot dog donated by Hot Doug's, donate money to help sustain a local community garden, and win food-related prizes (fresh produce from Irv and Shelly's, among others). Event runs 5:30-8pm.
