Join like-minded civil liberties advocates at the American Civil Liberties Union's Chicago July Volunteer Night, tonight from 5:30-8:30 pm at the ACLU of Illinois' Chicago office, 180 N. Michigan Avenue. Activities will include creating posters and signs for the upcoming Disability Pride Parade, July 20th. This event is free, with dinner provided, but RSVP required.
All the cool kids will be at the Hideout (1354 W. Wabansia) tonight for Veggie Bingo, a summerlong series brought to you by the good folks at Soup and Bread and NeighborSpace. Play the game, enjoy a grilled hot dog donated by Hot Doug's, donate money to help sustain a local community garden, and win food-related prizes (fresh produce from Irv and Shelly's, among others). Event runs 5:30-8pm.
The DuSable Museum, 740 E. 56th Pl., presents "A Tribute to Nancy Wilson, Nina Simone & Abby Lincoln," today from 6:30pm-8:30pm. Part of the museum's summer "Sounds of History Jazz Series," this free concert will feature Chicago area singers Maggie Brown, Joan Collaso and Bobbi Wilsyn, all paying tribute to jazz legends.
