Abbie Hoffman Died for Our Sins XXV

The Mary-Arrchie Theatre Co. presents the 25th annual Abbie Hoffman Died for Our Sins theater festival, beginning Friday at 5pm with a march from Daley Plaza to the Den Theater, 1333 N. Milwaukee Ave., and continuing for 72 hours straight, ending at midnight Sunday. Dozens of acts will perform. Tickets are $10 per day (get today's here, which is good from 9am to 9am) or get a three-day pass for $25.

Chicago Korean Festival @ Albany Park

Here's your chance to learn to make kimchi! Visit Albany Park today to celebrate and learn about Korean culture at the 18th Annual Chicago Korean Festival. Besides a kimchi demonstration and the Korean Food Market, there's Ssireum (traditional Korean wrestling), and breakdancing. You can register and buy advanced food and drink tickets online. More activities follow tomorrow, including a kimchi eating contest. Festival runs from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. at 3600-3850 W. Bryn Mawr Avenue.

Chicago Comic Con

Chicago Comic Con runs Aug. 8-11 at the Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, 5555 N. River Rd. Hit the panel talks and workshops, walk the trade floor, attend film screenings and meet celebrities such as Stan Lee, Zachary Quinto, Wil Wheaton, Morena Baccarin, John Barrowman, Tara Strong, DMC, Ralph Maccio and more. The cost of single day passes vary by day; today's are $60. A four-day weekend pass costs $90, or spring for the $250 VIP package, which gets you in an hour early each day as well as other goodies. Many celebrity meet-and-greets are ticketed separately. The convention runs from 10am to 7pm today.

Northalsted Market Days

Northalsted Market Days takes over Halsted Street between Belmont and Addison for one of the largest neighborhood festivals in the city today and Sunday from 11am to 10pm. Enjoy six blocks worth of food and drink, arts and craft vendors, and music on four stages. Musical highlights today include Aaron Carter, K. Rose, Cherie Curry, 10,000 Maniacs and Wilson Phillips; see the full schedule here. $5 suggested donation.

FIGMENT Festival @ Garfield Park Conservatory

The FIGMENT Festival runs today and Sunday at the Garfield Park Conservatory, 300 N. Central Park Ave., and features dozens of family-friendly projects, performances and workshops. See the schedule for details. It's open from noon to 9pm today. Admission is free.

Forgotten Chinatown Tour

The Chinatown Chamber of Commerce leads a historical tour of Chinatown today, leaving at noon from the corner of Archer and Wentworth avenues. Learn about historically important storefronts, architectural oddities and more. Tickets are $15 for the tour only, $27 for the tour plus lunch and tea afterward at Phoenix Restaurant, 2131 S. Archer Ave. Tickets must be purchased in advance -- no walk-ups.

Snow City Arts Film Festival @ Adventure Stage

Snow City Arts is presenting 2013: A Film Festival, a retrospective of 15 years of productions made by children in Chicago hospitals. The screening runs from 1pm-5pm at the Adventure Stage Chicago at Vittum Theater, 1012 N. Noble St. Tickets are free, but RSVP.

"Chiditarod" for Kids @ Garfield Park Conservatory

The folks behind the Chitidarod grocery cart race are conducting the kid-friendly Kiditarod to raise funds and collect food for the Greater Chicago Food Depository today and Sunday at the Garfield Park Conservatory, 300 N. Central Park Ave., as part of the FIGMENT Festival. Check-in starts at 1pm on Saturday and the race begins at 3pm. Slow Food Chicago Dinner @ Mint Creek Farm

Join Slow Food Chicago and chef Mark Payne of the Ritz Carlton for an afternoon of touring Mint Creek Farm, followed by a dinner featuring the season's offerings. Tickets $100 for adults; $50 for kids under 12. Meet at the Greenhouse Bed and Breakfast in Kempton (a 90-minute drive south of the city) at 2:30pm.

Queer Literary Showcase @ Quimby's

Quimby's hosts the Queer Literary Showcase with readers Michael Garabedian, elle navidson, Sam Lowry, and H Melt. The event starts at 7:00pm at Quimby's (1854 W. North Avenue). Full details at the Quimby's Website.
