The Active Transportation Alliance's Four Star Bike & Chow is a set of four bike tours to culinary destinations that vary based on length: pick a 12-, 22-, 35- or 62-mile course and get some delicious food at stops along each route. Registration is $37 in advance for adults, $17 for kids 17 or under and includes a t-shirt. Day-of registration is $45. The rides begin and end at Chicago Circle Memorial Grove, at the corner of Morgan and Taylor streets on UIC campus. Registration opens today at 6am, and the 62-mile ride departs at 6:30am; the 12-mile ride departs at 9am, with the other two in between.
The 10th annual Bash on Wabash runs Saturday and today on Wabash Avenue between 13th Street and 14th Place. There's music all day on the the stage curated by Reggies as well as a kids stage. There are lots of free activities for adults and kids, food trucks and a variety of local vendors. $5 suggested donation; kids stage is a $2 suggested donation for adults, free for kids. A portion of the proceeds are donated to the South Loop Community Church Food Pantry. The festival is open from 11am to 10pm each day.

Go Topless Day takes place annually, around the world, on the Sunday closest to Women's Equality Day (August 26). Today, Chicagoans will gather at North Avenue Beach, where women will exercise their right to go topless and men will wear bikini tops to symbolize obvious gender-based inequalities and stand up for gender equality. Festivities begin at noon. Admission in free.
The Boulevard Logan Square music festival and the Brasil Fest run simultaneously Aug. 23-25 on the Logan Boulevard parkway between Albany and Mozart. Today's lineup for Boulevard Fest features Community Health, Man Is Man, Las BomPleneras, Roadkill Ghost Choir, The Lonely Wild, Spirit Family Reunion and Snarky Puppy.. Brasil Fest features the Rob Block Quintet, Mr. Brasil, Passistas Samba Dance Group, DJ Newlie, Rio Dio, Handphibians, and a Carnaval parade at the end of the night. Both festivals run from noon to 10pm today. Suggested donation $5.
Chicago Ukulele Cabaret presents the annual Great Midwest Ukefest this afternoon at Chief O'Neill's (3471 N. Elston) starting this afternoon at 2:00pm. A kids program at the top of the day will be followed by an extended open-mike session stretching through the evening, followed by a series of evening concerts featuring many Cabaret regulars. Festa Italiana takes over Taylor Street from Racine to Ashland Aug. 22-25. Enjoy live music by (mostly) Italian-American acts, shop local vendors, enjoy Italian food -- maybe even participate in a meatball-eating contest or grape stomp -- play bocce and more. The festival is open from 2 to 10pm today.
Purple Asparagus, a charitable organization that educates children, families and communities about healthy eating, hosts its "Corks and Crayons" fundraiser today from 4-7pm at Greenhouse Loft (2545 W. Diversey). Food tastings, wine/beer/cocktails, and a mini-farmer's market for the grownups--and for the kids, a photo booth, art projects, a magician, a silent auction and raffle prize drawing. Admission $75 for adults, $15 for ages 5-18. Kids under 5 are free.
The celebrated noise artists and copyright crusaders Negativland cruise into town this evening to perform at the Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western Ave. Opening acts are Illusion of Safety and Good Willsmith. Doors open at 7pm, and tickets are $12 in advance $15 at the door. 21+
