Yuppies @ Permanent Records

Omaha punks, Yuppies, play a free show tonight at Permanent Records (1941 W. Chicago) in support of their recently released self titled album. Yuppies do stripped down quirky punk that reminds me vaguely of bands such as The Dead Milkmen. They are signed to Dull Tools, the label that Andrew Savage of Parquet Courts owns and operates. Check out a stream of their album on Bandcamp. The Sueves open. This is an all ages show. It starts at 6pm and is free.

Meet Your Maker

Meet your Maker is an opportunity for artists and arts administrators to interact and meet face-to-face bridging the divide between them. Join your colleagues from the creative sector to make a dynamic difference in the community. The event is tonight from 6 to 8pm at Fulton Street Collective, 2000 W. Fulton St. Suggested donation of $5 to cover food and refreshments; register to attend.

Mister Lies @ Schubas

Local downtempo electronic producer, Mister Lies, performs tonight at Schubas (3159 N. Southport) in support of his debut full length album, Mowgli. As our friends at the Chicago Reader point out in their recent profile of the musician, the new album finds Mister Lies subtly experimenting with his sound while retaining a familiarity with what came before. Check out a stream of his single, "Align." Young Galaxy headlines. This is a 21+ show. The show starts at 9pm. Tickets are $12.
