The Chicago Marathon starts in Grant Park at 7:30am (wheelchair racers begin at 7:20am) and snakes its way through the city. The 11th annual Andersonville Arts Weekend runs Oct. 11-13 throughout the neighborhood, mostly on or near Clark Street from Winnemac to Hollywood. Events begin at 11am today; see the full schedule for details. Free.
Celebrate the end of summer from 2-6pm today at Parson's Chicken and Fish (2952 W. Armitage) with food (goats roasted on an outdoor spit) and beer pairings from Naperville's own Solemn Oath. Music, a table tennis tournament, a pop-up store from Lost Girls Vintage and, puzzlingly, a chopper rally will also go down.
Signs of Life, a musical drama based on the true story of the Czech ghetto, Terezin, has come to Chicago for a limited run at Victory Gardens Theater (2433 N. Lincoln.) Universally acclaimed by the Sun-Times, Reader and the New York Times, Signs of Life runs through October 27 with performances on Wednesdays at 2pm and 7:30pm, Thursdays at 7:30pm, Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 5pm and 8:30pm, and Sundays at 3pm. This week only: enter the code WOLFIE at checkout for $15 tickets. Regular pricing is $45-$65.
German female duo BOY, whom you may know from their song "Little Numbers," performs tonight at Schubas, 3159 N. Southport Ave., with Leif Vollebekk and Greg Holden opening. Tickets are $15 in advance, $18 at the door. Doors open at 7pm. All ages.
The live lit series That's All She Wrote, co-hosted by GB contributor JH Palmer and Angela Benander, celebrates its one-year anniversary at Swim Cafe, 1357 W. Chicago Ave. In addition to a tandem story that will be told by J.H. and Angela, the lineup includes: WRITE CLUB! Timekeeper Lindsay Muscato; Soup & Bread founder Martha Bayne; writer extraordinaire Sarah Hollenbeck; and master storyteller Byron Roussin. Doors open at 7:30pm, show starts at 8pm. This is a free event, and is BYOB.
