SOFA Chicago @ Navy Pier
The 20th annual SOFA Chicago, an art fair devoted to "Sculpture Objects Functional Art + Desig,n" opens today at Navy Pier's Festival Hall and runs through Sunday. Works from nearly 70 galleries from across the US and around the world will be on display. Hours are 11am to 7pm today and Saturday, and noon to 6pm Sunday. General admission tickets are $15 per day or $25 for a three-day pass. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door.
Pickle Night @ CH Distillery
Recently opened CH Distillery hosts Pickle Night tonight at 5:00 p.m. in their West Loop bar/distillery (564 W Randolph). Pickletinis, Bloody Mary shots, and pickle-themed hors d'oeuvres will be on hand as well as New York City-based pickle producer Rick's Picks and a sample of his products. Make-Your-Own-Pickletini kits (Rick's Classic Sour Pickles, CH Vodka, and pickletini recipe) will be available while supplies last for $45. Event is from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. Admission is free.
First Friday @ Old Town School of Folk Music
The Old Town School of Folk Music presents their monthly open house, Firdat Friday, starting this evening at 6:00pm in their new building at 4545 North Lincoln Avenue. The Patio Theater, 6008 W. Irving Park Rd., is the setting for Film Deviant's Halloween Hangover, a night of indie horror film featuring The Battery, An Evening with My Comatose Mother, Keeper and Another Set of Eyes. Psychic TV @ Reggies
Industrial legends Psychic TV headline Reggies, 2105 S. State St., tonight, with Silver Abuse, Implodes, Palmflower and Impulsive Hearts opening. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. VIP tickets are $45 and include the second-ever screening of the film Psychic TV: Dreams Less Sweet at 7pm. Doors otherwise open at 8pm. 17+
Double Door Halloween Bash
The Double Door, 1572 N. Milwaukee Ave., throws the second half of its 17th annual Halloween Bash tonight, featuring Sex Therapy performing as Janis Joplin, The Dead On as Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Blackbox as U2, WaxWorks as The Black Keys, and Tony Manno as Neil Young. Gozamos Dia de los Muertos Party
Gozamos throws its annual Dia de los Muertos party tonight from 9:30pm to 2:30am at Chicago Urban Art Society, 600 W. Cermak Rd. Fandanguero performs live and DJs including ((Sonorama)), Soulphonetics and SoundCulture spin. Enjoy Indio beer, sweets from Sweet Lady Flan, facepainting and more.
