Tonight, watch CPS high school culinary students compete to create a tasty lunch with the limited budget and the limited ingredients similar to a typical school lunch program. Today is Lincoln Square's annual fall Wine Stroll, when 12-14 businesses along each of the four select routes serve a selection of wines and small bites. Tickets start at $40. Stroll from 6:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m.; exact locations along Lincoln Ave. or Ravenswood Ave. very by route.
The Umbrella Music Festival gets under way with European Jazz Meets Chicago, an evening of performances at the Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington St. Groups from Sweden, Austria, Switzerland and France perform, beginning at 6:30pm. Free.
French DJ, Kavinsky, performs tonight at Metro in support of his release of his latest album, Outrun. Check out a video for his single, "Nightcall," which can be found on the soundtrack of Drive. Taught Abroad, Tensnake, and a DJ set by Simian Mobile Disco all open. This is an 18+ show and starts at 9pm. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased here.
The 31st annual Reeling LGBT Film Festival runs Nov. 7-14, screening at multiple venues throughout the city. Tonight's opening night film is GBF, showing at 7:30pm at the Music Box Theatre, 3733 N. Southport Ave., followed by an afterparty at the Laugh Factory, 3175 N. Broadway, with apps, beer and a lineup of LGBT standup comedians. Tickets are $15 for the screening, $40 for the screening plus afterparty.
Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave., welcomes the legendary electronic duo Sparks for a pair of concerts Wednesday and tonight. Tickets are $30 online or at the door, which opens at 8pm. 18+
Come see Story Club tonight at the Holiday Club, 4000 N Sheridan Ave. The theme this month is "Thanks" and features readings from writer Sarah Hollenbeck, Chicago Writers Conference creator Mare Swallow, filmmaker and advice columnist Jennifer Peepas. Open mic slots are also available for storytelling hopefuls. Open mic signup starts at 7:30, show beings at 8pm.
