The curly-haired hog will be the star of tonight's special dinner at Lula (2537 N. Kedzie). Chefs from Butcher and Larder, Publican Quality Meats, and Carriage House will be teaming up with Lula for a five-course meal complete with cocktails by Templeton Rye, Revolution Brewery and Cream Wine Company. All of your $95 ticket cost will be donated to Sac City, Iowa's Howard Center, which supports individuals with disabilities.
Essay Fiesta celebrates its fourth birthday tonight at 7pm at the Book Cellar, 4736 N. Lincoln Ave. -- read our preview in Book Club. The lineup includes Moth Grandslam Champion Shannon Cason, 826CHI Director of Education Zach Duffy, solo show performer Natasha Tsoutsouris, This Much Is True co-host Stephanie Douglass, and Essay Fiesta founder Keith Ecker. Karen Shimmin and Willy Nast host. The reading is free, but donations (which benefit 826Chi) are accepted.
The Polish Film Festival in America runs Nov. 8-24. Films screen at Facets Cinematheque, 1517 W. Fullerton Ave., Gallery Theatre, 1112 N. Milwaukee Ave., and Muvico Rosemont 18, 9701 Bryn Mawr Ave. in Rosemont. See the full schedule for details.
