This annual event of special lunch and/or dinner prix-fixe dining begins today for a two-week stint at places all over the city, among them Balena, Trencherman, and Naha. The offerings can be a mixed bag, but it's worth the risk.
Northwestern University's student organization A&O Productions presents B-Fest 2014, a 24-hour non-stop B-movie festival beginning Friday night at 6pm, and ending Saturday night at 6pm. B-Fest happens on the campus of Northwestern, in the McKormick Auditorium in Norris University Center. Full details and advance tickets available through the B-Fest website.
Action Bronson livens up the Metro, 3730 N. Clark St., tonight, with Party Supplies opening. Tickets are $21 in advance, $23 at the door. Doors open at 6pm, show's at 7pm. All ages.
Chicago Blackhawks left winger Bryan Bickell and his wife Amanda will host a benefit to raise funds for their foundation (the Bryan & Amanda Bickell Foundation) and its programs for pit bulls and abused children. The event takes place on January 24 from 7pm to 10pm at Paris Club for A Fetching Affair. Grab a drink tended by a Chicago Blackhawks player, snack on hors d'oeuvres and bid on one-of a-kind auction items that will go towards a great cause.
UofC's Doc Films in Ida Noyes Hall, 1212 E. 59th St., hosts screenings of Batman tonight at 7pm and 10pm as part of its Tim Burton series. There will be a Q&A with Batman screenwriter Sam Hamm immediately following the 7pm screening, plus a pop-up bookstore by First Aid Comics. Tickets are $5 (cash only).
The Harris Theater for Music and Dance, 205 E. Randolph St., presents Tony Award-winner Savion Glover's STePz, tonight at 7:30pm.
