The God, Sex, Death Variety Hour with Danny Black is back at the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave., tonight at 6:30pm. This time around it's Dan Walsh on God, Damani Bowden on Sex, and CJ Sullivan on Death, with special guest Angela Vela. $5 cover at the door. 21+
Martyrs' hosts the monthly Moth StorySLAM, where audience members are invited to tell a five-minute story on the evening's theme. The winner, as judged by a team of judges also selected from the audience, advance to the Grandslam Championships. Clearance, a new-ish local "buzzy lo-fi indie rock" group (so-called by the Reader's Gossip Wolf), will be playing at the Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western, to mark the release of their new 7" EP, Greensleeve. Joining them are similarly buzzy groups Earring, mtvghosts, and Hollow Mountain. Tickets are $5 in advance or at the door. 9pm, 21+.
