You've Got Class
- As Seen at Medieval Times: Every Saturday from noon to 3 pm you can learn how to make your own plate armor at the Fire Arts Center.
- You know who looked good in head to toe metal? Maria, the original femmebot from Fritz Lang's silent film Metropolis. The Facets Film School is offering a class on the film noir aspects of several of Lang's films, including Metropolis, beginning on September 24.
- Metropolis was Lang's vision of the urban future, but architect and designer Daniel Burnham had a vision of his own. The Newberry Library is offering a five-week seminar beginning September 16 which will explore Burnham's civic vision for Chicago.
- If you're more interested in formulating your own images of urban development, the Hyde Park Art Center is offering a course on Landscape Photography & the City that starts on October 2.
- If you prefer to explore the city with the tip of a pen rather than through the lens, the the Art Institute's Intro to Landscape Drawing class may be for you. It also begins on October 2.
