Friday Flickr Feature

curtain.jpg

Inspired by Carl's post on the similarities between nineteenth century Chicago and present-day Asian boomtowns, we chose this picture by spudart of a Chicago under construction. Though it looks as if it came from a bygone era, the photo was taken earlier this year when the CTA was repainting portions of the El tracks.

Heeeey! Thanks for featuring my photo! :-) Say, they are still painting the loop, and just last week I snapped s'more shots. I'll be posting them to my flickr sometime soon.

It's really amazing how they use these really old, beat-up, worn-out dropcloths.

The workers doing the painting are quite friendly too. They get a big kick out of the fact that someone is photographing this. (although there is one worker who hesitantly let me photograph, and then about half an hour later he told me to leave and stop shooting, which i did. But he was just the one rotten apple, the rest of the guys were really really nice).
