"Dance for Life" 2010
Not often do six of Chicago's most renowned dance companies converge for an evening performance, so when it happens, it's a must-see. Dance lovers won't want to miss this Saturday's Dance for Life benefit at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, which brings together some of Chicago's best dancers in support of HIV/AIDS prevention and care programs. The August 21 performance includes Ensemble EspaƱol Spanish Dance Theatre, Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, The Joffrey Ballet, River North Chicago Dance Company, and Thodos Dance Chicago. Dean Richards, Entertainment Critic and Reporter for WGN-TV (CW) will host this year's event.
Since the program's inception in 1992, the event has raised nearly $4 million to support HIV/AIDS prevention and care. Funds raised by the Dance for Life benefit organizations such as the AIDS Foundation of Chicago, the Dance for Life Fund, Brothers Health Collective, and HIV/AIDS Outreach and Education Project.
The nineteenth annual Dance for Life performance takes place 7:30 pm, this Saturday, August 21, at Harris Theater, 205 E. Randolph Dr. Performance-only tickets are $75 each. Tickets including the Gala Reception, which begins at 5 pm on the Millennium Park Rooftop Terrace above the Harris Theater, begin at $150.
